2018 Chili Cookoff
The 2018 annual chili cook-off was held on Sunday afternoon, February 25th, with 27 folks in attendance and prizes worth over $450. There were 5 would-be chili champions (Kim Mancuso, Mike Small, Simone Donle, Mary Timmerman, Linda Scheidt), and the competition was fierce, as usual.
After all was tasted and scored, the winners of the chili cook-off were announced as follows:
1st Place - Mike Small (Prize: Framed “Storm Warning” Photo Painting by Bill and Susan, valued at $199)
2nd Place - Mary Timmerman and Linda Scheidt tied, so a coin was tossed and Mary won the toss (Prize: Magnum of Red Wine Donated by Cooper’s Hawk, valued at $100)
3rd Place - Linda Scheidt (Prize: Cooper’s Hawk Wine Tasting Club 3 Month Membership valued at $125)
Guests took a good guess at the number of beans in the jar, and the winner was really close: Jaimie Wright won with a guess of 1,111 out of the real total of 1,117 (Prize: Skyline Chili $25 gift card). Wayne Donle won the “consolation prize” for the worst guess of 9 (Prize: Leoni’s Pizza $5 gift card).
After dinner, several guests stayed to play “Family Feud” where we had some good laughs at some of the questions! Feud players won more prizes: Freddi & Kim Mancuso (Dinner for 4 at Cooper’s Hawk valued at $125), Jaime Wright (China Wok $25 gift card and tropical drink cups valued at $12), Kim Mancuso (Riverbend Brewing Company Pint Glasses valued at $24), and Mary Timmerman (Sweet Caroline’s $10 gift card).
